Specsavers in Belper held an action packed fun day and donated £1 for every sight test throughout Armed Forces Week 2015 (22 to 28 June) to Blind Veterans UK.

Staff also asked passersby to take a selfie using silly props provided in store for a small donation, where the winner of the best image will receive a prize on Saturday 27 June.

The team also handed out goody bags and balloons, joined by representatives from the Help for Heroes charity at the store on Saturday.

Specsavers Belper director, Andy McBride said: ‘The charity is currently supporting more than 4,000 blind veterans and with our help, they hope to reach their target of recruiting 700 new beneficiaries in the coming year.’

About the charity

Blind Veterans UK was founded in 1915 and offers support, training and rehabilitation to blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women. The charity’s mission is to ensure that all blind veterans have access to the finest quality services to help them discover life beyond sight loss.
