Specsavers in Holton Road has been recognised for its high standards when it comes to health and safety within the work place.

The Barry store was the first Specsavers store in Wales to receive the Platinum award in 2013, and is now the first to receive the Platinum Plus award. It is one of only a handful of Specsavers stores across the UK to hold this prestigious accreditation.

Excellence recognised

The award recognises stores that have demonstrated excellence in all areas of health and safety including staff training, ensuring that stores are compliant with industry standards, and a host of other measures.

This is the fifth year in a row that the store has been judged as being fully compliant, which has seen it climb the ranks from a bronze award in 2010, to a Platinum award last year and now the Platinum Plus award in 2014.

Absolutely thrilled

Store director, Jamie Pullen, said: ‘After being awarded the Platinum accreditation last year from our independent health and safety assessor, we’re absolutely thrilled to be recognised with a Platinum Plus award. It’s especially pleasing to be the first Specsavers store in Wales to receive this accreditation, and one of only a handful in the UK.

‘I would like to thank the entire team for their commitment to ensuring we are fully compliant.’
