Barking had their cake and ate it
The Barking store joined the nation in satisfying their sweet tooth and invited local residents to join them at the Macmillan Coffee Morning.
Staff at Specsavers in Barking found their inner bakers by whipping up a spread of cakes for customers to purchase on Friday 26 September. The store raised £40 from the yummy treats which went towards Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Macmillan Coffee morning coincided with National Eye Health Week and in order to support both causes, the Barking store offered free eye tests from Monday 22 until Friday 26 September. Locals were able to visit the store, which also offers digital retinal photography, and sample the cakes on offer while ensuring their eye health was in check.
A word from the director
Store director Mohammed Rehmani says: ‘We invited the Barking community to join us and fill up with the tasty treats on offer.
‘The coffee morning is one of the most important days for Macmillan and we saw old and new faces in store enjoying our homemade cakes. We hope the money raised will make such a difference in the push against cancer and we are already looking forward to future events.’
