Banstead opticians help make school kids visible on the roads
Specsavers in Banstead is helping to keep local school children safe at night by donating high visibility vests to pupils at Banstead Infant School and Woodmansterne Primary School.
Promoting road safety
The store gave the vests to 100 children at Banstead Infant School and Woodmansterne Primary School to promote safety at night ahead of Road Safety Week on 17-23 November, an initiative by the charity Brake, which is sponsored by Specsavers.
Head teacher at Banstead Infant School, Stephanie Storrar, said: ‘We’re very grateful for these vests; they will be put to good use.
‘Our children’s safety is of paramount importance. These vests will allow the children to walk safely in the dark, as well as be visible to cars on educational visits.’
A bright Bonfire Night
Children at Woodmansterne Primary School used their allocation of vests at their annual Bonfire Night display earlier in the month.
Brake is a national road safety charity which promotes effective road safety policies and safe and sustainable road use. It exists to prevent deaths and injuries which happen on roads on a daily basis, through campaigns and other funding.
