Bangor resident is a regional SWOTY finalist
One of Bangor’ s proudest glasses wearers, is now one a step closer to winning the coveted Spectacle Wearer of the Year Award, with a grand prize of £10,000 and a luxury holiday in the Bahamas.
Bill Lindsay, aged 64 and from Bangor, was chosen from hundreds of entries from across Northern Ireland. Known as the Oscars of the glasses world, the awards celebrate specs wearers from the UK and Republic of Ireland, across four age categories: 15-24; 25-39; 40-59 and 60+.
The awards were launched by Girls Aloud singer and West End star Kimberley Walsh earlier this year, who Mr Lindsay could meet at the awards ceremony in London in October if he triumphs in his age category.
Andrea Ridgway, store director, Bangor Specsavers store, Bloomfield Shopping Centre, says: ‘We would like to wish Mr Lindsay all the very best for the final round of judging. It is such a great achievement to have reached the final eight within Northern Ireland. The art of persuasion certainly paid off when it came to the store staff encouraging Mr Lindsay to enter the competition.’
