Portglenone girl Charlene McFetridge celebrates winning a regional finalists award at this year’s Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.

Charlene McFetridge, a customer of the Ballymena store has been chosen out of hundreds of people across Northern Ireland as a regional finalist in the 2015 Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year. Charlene who comes from Portglenone will go forward to the next stage of judging and could win £10,000 and a luxury holiday in the Bahamas.

Champagne and gift vouchers

Charlene who works for Carl Scarpa in Ballymena has been wearing specs since she was seven and is delighted to win a regional finalists award. Charlene, who was short-listed in the 25 -34 age category, was presented with champagne, a certificate and a £150 eye-care voucher and is looking forward to buying some new glasses in the Ballymena store.

Ballymena store director Valerie Penney said she was delighted that Charlene had reached the regional finalist stage of Spectacle Wearer of the Year. 'I’d like to congratulate Charlene! We’re delighted that one of our regular customers has reached this stage of the competition. Charlene is a great ambassador for specs wearers locally!'

Celeb-packed gala final in London

Spice Girls singer and Heart FM DJ Emma Bunton will present the award for the ultimate Spectacle Wearer of the Year at London’s 8 Northumberland Avenue on Tuesday 6th October 2015. The awards evening will be hosted by TV star Bradley Walsh.
