Baking up a storm for Macmillan Cancer Support
The team from Specsavers in Melton Mowbray put the focus on fundraising on Friday 30 September and invited local residents to enjoy sweet treats in exchange for donations to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Members of staff welcomed customers and passers-by into the store to take part in ‘The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, with all proceeds going to the cancer charity.
A charity very close to many people's hearts
‘The team is always very keen to get involved with fundraising for a good cause, and Macmillan is a charity close to many people’s hearts,’ said store director, Marshall Bradley. ‘We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, either directly or through friends and family, so this was a great opportunity for us and our local community to dig deep and make a difference.’
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event. Each year, the charity invites people across the UK to host their own coffee mornings, with last year’s event raising more than £25 million.
Marshall added: ‘I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who was involved in our coffee morning, both to members of staff for their hard work and baking efforts, and to our loyal customers for helping us in our support of Macmillan.’
Macmillan Cancer Support provides medical, emotional and financial support to cancer sufferers and their families. There are more than 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK alone.
