As the leaves start falling from the trees and the chill sets in, we need to put our summer clothes aside for warmer options. For autumn 2016, we show you how to wear glasses that coincide with the latest trends from check patterns, alluring velvet to shimmering sequins.
Not just for men
It’s time to borrow check and tweed from the boys. It’s not just masculine silhouettes such as double breasted suits and oversized coats that turned country, it was also feminine shapes too, like pencil dresses or pleated skirts. If influenced try the Love Moschino LM11 (£125) with its distinctive patterned frame in shades of brown.
Watch them stare
This season we’ve fallen for the lady. Her skirt falls just past the knee or skims the floor and neckline plunges to a deep V or sits high. But in velvet, she’s taken a darker turn, which makes her appear even more appealing. Max and Co 05 (£149) cat eye mimics the lady in velvet’s characteristics. The feline’s curves bring the glamour while the metal temples hint to a tougher side of the personality.
Frame the outerwear
Wearable and versatility springs to mind with autumn’s outerwear. Stand to attention in the military coat complete with a structured silhouette decorated in braided trims, metal buttons and notch lapels. And the puffa jacket is a strong player too. Cinch at the waist and wrap it around anything from jeans, a skirt worn over tights or a gown to keep that chill off at night. Blur the lines of the coat’s feminine and masculine elements with metal inserted with coloured gems wrapped around the temples of Aurora Marcasite’s (£125) brown square glasses.
Shimmer in the night
What about styling glasses for the evening? Look to Gant GA071-1 (£149) coloured front and metal temples. Shimmer from head to toe in dresses decorated in sequins, beads, gems or dazzling tassels, or accessorise further with belts that sparkle into the night.
