A hearing test underway at Specsavers

Specsavers in Chester is celebrating a successful 10 years of caring for the hearing of the community.

The store  on Northgate Street introduced hearcare services a decade ago, and to celebrate that anniversary, the store has invested in a complete refurbishment of its hearcare services.

Specsavers in Okehampton give hearing tests to the town band

On Wendesday 8 June the Okehampton team hosted the Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band in store to raise awareness of hearing health.

The store, which sponsors the town band, invited the musicians to visit the store to have their hearing tested by Mike Hobbs, audiologist in Okehampton. The team are encouraging those who enjoy playing an instrument or listening to music to get their hearing tested.

Vicki Michelle reveals tinnitus diagnosis by Specsavers

Former Allo Allo star Vicki Michelle is raising awareness of tinnitus by revealing her recent diagnosis with the condition.

Since a blow to the head during a live TV show, the 65-year-old actress has been suffering from hearing constant noises in her head. Now Vicki is raising awareness for other sufferers.

Tinnitus affects 10 per cent of UK adult

The Blackburn team is inviting local residents to find out more about its NHS and private hearcare options during a special awareness day on Friday, June 3.

The town’s two Specsavers stores at Lord Street Mall and Morrisons superstore will be jointly hosting the event from 9am-5.30pm.

Specsavers Opticians and Audiologists in St Helens supported Deaf Awareness Week this week (May 2-8) by teaming up with the Deafness Resource Centre, which provides services for D/deaf people, their carers and families, in St Helens town centre.

Specsavers audiologist provides customer with hearing aids which have changed her life

‘I first noticed that I was struggling with my hearing a few years ago when I realised I couldn’t hear the TV and radio. I had to turn the volume up very loud and my husband Steve and daughter Zoe started to notice too. Telephone calls became more difficult and that’s when I decided to visit my local Specsavers to have my hearing checked. I didn’t for one minute think that I’d actually have hearing loss.’

Hearing loss is a surprisingly common condition; it affects more than 11 million people in the UK alone and there are currently 900,000 people in the UK that are severely or profoundly deaf*.

Deaf Awareness Week (2-8 May) aims to raise awareness of the condition, its common symptoms and encourage people to get their hearing checked.
