Yeovil audiologists use new video otoscope technology

Specsavers Audiologists in Yeovil now use video otoscope technology to provide a more personalised and all-encompassing experience for health checks of customers’ ears.

New technology

The video otoscope is a small camera which is inserted into the ear to enable audiologists at the store to project images of the ear onto a screen so that customers can see for themselves how healthy their ears are. This recording is kept on file to help keep track of any changes to the health of their ears over time.

Specsavers on Ferryquay Street is a busy store with 32 staff members including three Store Directors. Whilst Specsavers focus on eye care is well-known, people are often surprised to find out about their extensive hear care expertise.

A special Specsavers Hear Care van has been out and about in the Derry / Londonderry area. Hear Care Assistant Stacey Elliott has been manning the van and hoping to screen as many people as possible. The van will be out and about again in September and is run alongside the Business in the Community ‘Livewell Campaign’.

Festival season hearing danger

With the Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival finishing for another year, local audiologists are reminding residents to be mindful of their hearing when at music festivals or listening to music.

Staff at Specsavers in Lincoln Morrisons are letting the local community know about the importance of having regular hearing tests, especially for those planning on going to any festivals throughout the year.
