Director Stuart Ryan launches Hearing Aid collection in Whitehaven for Sound Seekers

Specsavers Hearing Centre in Whitehaven is doing its bit for charity by appealing for old hearing aids from customers to donate to people in the developing world.

The store has teamed up with Sound Seekers, a charity dedicated to helping deaf and hearing impaired in the poorest communities across Africa.

The Whitehaven Hearing Centre will donate the recycled hearing aids to the charity for use in their projects across Cameroon, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Zambia.

Carlisle Store Has Been Disnepensing Hearing Aids for Eight Years
The store, which has been dispensing hearing aids to the city for more than eight years, has teamed up with Sound Seekers, a charity dedicated to helping deaf and hearing impaired in the poorest communities across Africa.

£30k has been invested in staff training

The Specsavers Hearing Centres across Tayside, Angus and Perthshire have invested £30,000 in five members of its team to ensure they are delivering the best customer service.

The staff, which includes two members of the Perth team, have been enrolled on the Diploma of Higher Education: Hearing Aid Audiology course at Queen Margaret University in Musselburgh.

At the end of the two-year course, Angela Morgan and Karen McNamee, will  be qualified Hearing Aid Dispensers, and will be able to add to the expertise in each store.

It’s a brand new look and fantastic new hear care centre for Ilkeston Specsavers.

The store at 104 Bath Street has been looking after the eyes of the local community for the last 24 years.  The store’s newly completed re-fit, at an investment of £200,000, comes as a result of increased demand, which has also seen three new staff members joining the team.

Radio star, Barnaby Towers, turned down the volume for a free hearing check at Specsavers Hearing Centre in Leeds this week.

The Leeds Student Radio DJ is used to being heard on the airwaves but with so much time spent wearing headphones, it was time to make sure his own hearing was up to scratch.

Given the all clear

Barnaby Towers, says: ‘As I spend a lot of time on radio and DJing I need to make sure my hearing is OK. I took a free hearing test at Specsavers and found out that my hearing is fine.’

As part of a health drive by the Specsavers store in Portadown, store directors, JP Rice and Michael Kennedy, are reminding their local community about the importance of protecting their hearing and preventing hearing loss.

A hearing test not only assesses your hearing, but it can also spot more serious conditions such as tumours in the inner ear, known as cholesteatoma.

The Specsavers Hearing Centres team completed their second 50+ Show appearance of the year with a successful weekend in London.

The exhibition gave attendees the opportunity to have their hearing and sight checked, as well as ask for advice on Specsavers’ services.

Booked out

With appointments booked out before 11 o’clock each morning, the recently remodelled hearing booth once again proved to be of huge interest for show visitors, with more than 150 hearing screenings completed over the three days.

Cilla Black has revealed her personal battle with hearing loss.

National treasure and host of over 500 TV shows, Cilla Black has revealed her personal battle with hearing loss.

She blames her time spent working as a coat check girl in Liverpool's famous Cavern Club for her hearing impairment. 

Cilla, who has surgically implanted hearing aids, told The Mail on Sunday: ‘I blame the Cavern. All those years in a place with no proper acoustics, I think it may have done some damage.’
