Matthew Dargie is the new audioloy director

New audiology director Matthew Dargie has joined the team at Basildon and will be working in Canvey Island, Upminster and Wickford.

The 31-year-old Glaswegian originally studied law and accountancy at Stirling University and worked as a chartered accountant before retraining as a hearing aid audiologist (HAA) in 2016.

Audiology expansion at Specsavers in Clacton

Local opticians Specsavers in Clacton-on-Sea has extended its audiology offer this month.

The expansion has led to a 120 per cent increase in hearing appointments throughout the week, working with audiology assistant Sam Beaumont-Green and audiology director Nasim Jalal.

Helping 2,500 more customers

Nasim said: ‘It’s fantastic to be able to develop the audiology services we have here in Clacton-on-Sea. Clinics will now be held across two sites, which means we are now able to help 2,500 more customers every year.’

Matthew was originally born in Glasgow and attended Stirling University, where he read law and accountancy. After graduation he worked as a chartered accountant before retraining as a hearing aid audiologist (HAA) in 2016.

Specsavers in Watford gets behind World Hearing Day

Staff at Specsavers in Watford have been busy rallying the troops to support World Hearing Day.

The hearing centre - along with their optical peers - backed this year’s campaign ' Hear the Future', by raising awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss by taking the best care of your ears.

On Saturday 3 March, the team welcomed local residents to the High Street store for a free hearing test, with no need for an appointment.

Advice for tinnitus sufferers

Audiology experts in Felixstowe are giving out advice to raise awareness of tinnitus.

Hearing aid audiologist Westly Fox at Specsavers in Felixstowe, offers some guidance on managing tinnitus, which currently has no known cure.

Westly said: ‘Tinnitus is surprisingly common, affecting 10% of adults in the UK. Music is everywhere these days so everyone is at risk of hearing damage. Whether you’re listening to it through headphones on the daily commute, at your favourite bands’ gigs or even just spending a lot of time in noisy restaurants, the noise level can be very loud.

The Derry-Londonderry team have agreed a two year partnership with the Millennium Forum.

As the popular theatre’s access partner, Specsavers support is enabling the Forum to develop their already successful ‘Access’ initiatives and acquire a portable hearing enhancement loop system for its Studio Theatre. The loop system will also be used for additional break out and meeting rooms.
