Ashton store appealing for donations to animal shelter
The rescue animals of Tameside Animal Shelter will be treated to their very own Christmas gifts this year, thanks to the generosity of a local opticians and its customers.
Up until the 20th of December, Specsavers in Ladysmith Shopping Centre, Ashton is running a Christmas collection on behalf of Tameside Animal Shelter, with all donations going to the rescued animals.
The final donations must be made by the 20th of December, in order to ensure that everything donated reaches the animal shelter in time for Christmas.
Animal food / cat litter / cleaning products especially sought after
Ideal donations suggested by Tameside Animal Shelter include cat food/litter, domestic cleaning products such as disinfectant and/or washing up liquid, and bin bags – however any and all donations that can be spared will be gratefully received by the shelter.
James Richardson, store director at Specsavers Ashton, said “We all agreed in store that we wanted to do something for those who tend to be forgotten about at this time of year.
Charities struggling to get by
“While we’re often wrapped up thinking ourselves and our friends and family over Christmas, and our budgets are stretched to the limits, charities can find themselves struggling to get by. It can be difficult for the volunteers who give their time freely over this busy period. That’s why we wanted to help out this year, and we hope our customers will get behind the cause.
“We’re really proud to support Tameside Animal Centre. The fantastic work they do resonates with us all here at the store, and we’re very much looking forward to contributing to it in our own small way”.
