Ashton opticians show they have a heart

The team in Ashton showed they had a heart last month, as they joined together to hold a fundraising day in store for British Heart Foundation.

Rock Up in Red

Heart and circulatory disease takes the lives of more than 400 people in the UK each day, so the store team all wore red for the charity's Rock Up in Red initiative.

The cause is close to the hearts of the team in store as local boy Brody Lomas was born with was born with congenital heart disease but, thanks to research by BHF, now has three bovine (cow) parts transplanted into his heart to help repair his heart temporarily.

A stand was set up for customers to find out more about heart disease, and about Brody's condition specifically.

Donations collected

Customers gave generously and the store raised more than £50 for the cause.
