Ashton Hearing Centre rings the changes
Specsavers in Ashton will be offering customers more hearing appointments, following the arrival of a new hearcare director.
Appointments under the new service will offer customers free comprehensive hearing checks and assessments as well as information and advice on the wide range of hearing aids available.
New hearcare director
Sairah Abdul Ghafoor joined the Ashton store from Specsavers Hearing Centre in Manchester. Her arrival will see the number of hearcare clinics available to customers rise sevenfold.
Specsavers relocated to Ladysmith Shopping Centre earlier this year, increasing the size of the store by a third. The renovation of the new store included the installation of a dedicated hearing test room with a soundproof hearing booth and state-of-the-art hearcare technology.
A new level of healthcare for Ashton
Sairah commented: ‘I’m really excited about bringing a new level of healthcare to Ashton. Hearing is an area most people tend to forget about and they don’t generally have it checked in the same way as they do with their eyesight.
Unlike sight loss, hearing loss is a gradual process that may not be noticed until significant loss of aural awareness has occurred. People don’t always appreciate that hearing tests can be as important as eye tests and that regular checks are recommended.’
One in six people in the UK suffer from some form of hearing loss. It is advised that anyone over the age of 40 should have a hearing check at least once a year.
Specsavers Hearing Centre in Ashton is accredited to provide a local free NHS hearing service, from initial assessment through to provision of hearing aids and aftercare for patients over the age of 18.
To receive treatment at Specsavers Ashton through the NHS patients will first need to see their GP to request a referral to their local store.
