Specsavers supports young archer Hollie Smith
Specsavers Ilkeston has shown its support for a young sporting talent.
The store has provided local youngster Hollie Smith (12), an upcoming archery champion, with sixth month’s worth of contact lenses, free of charge.
Hollie started her archery career at the age of seven when she joined her local club Sherwood Archers. Since then she has competed for her county and the UK, broken numerous records and is now in the process of obtaining two qualifying scores, which will invite her onto the GB selection shoot for the World Championships in the USA. Hollie is currently being coached by Simon Scott, an ex Great Britain archer.
Krishna Parma, store director, said; ‘We’re delighted to support local upcoming talent, especially someone as dedicated as Hollie. It’s really important that she has the best vision for her sport and we’re happy to help.’
Hollie Smith who now shoots for the Derwent Bowmen club in Darley Dale, said; ‘Without contact lenses it’s impossible for me to compete in archery to the best of my ability. I can't shoot in glasses at all because the frame gets in the way, so I’m really grateful to Specsavers for giving me half a year’s supply of lenses, they’re going to be so helpful!’
