Apprentice from Specsavers in Chatham graduates
Proud Abigail receives her certificate from Paul Marshall, joint MD for UK and Ireland

An apprentice from Chatham is now embarking on a rewarding career in eyecare with the opticians’ Optical Apprenticeship programme, the biggest government-accredited scheme in the UK.

Abigail Morris joined Chatham Specsavers store director and 97 other apprentices at the graduation ceremony in Birmingham.

The ambitious girl joined Specsavers’ one-year apprenticeship, which is open to anyone over the age of 16 and requires no previous optical experience. Those that complete it become qualified optical assistants with the chance of full-time employment at Specsavers.

The young graduate apprentice says: ‘Doing my apprenticeship with Specsavers has helped me open my knowledge about optics. My favourite part was learning on the job. The staff and store trainers were all really friendly and supportive. I really feel like my apprenticeship has helped with my future career and opened a lot of career opportunities.’
