The weekend of 15/16 June saw hundreds of children come together to compete in this year's Specsavers Surrey Youth Games.
Supporting Active Surrey
The partnership - now in its third year - sees every single Specsavers store in Surrey donate the needed funds to put on the largest supporting event of its kind for the county. Children are given the opportunity to try new sports for free in their own borough and then compete over a weekend event. The opportunity gives children access to 8 weeks' free training and sparks that passion and sport at an early age.
Volunteers from the stores attended over the weekend's event, chatting with participants and their family. Many voiced their excitement at seeing all their hard work come together to make the event as successful as previous years.
Says Specsavers regional chair, James Sawyer:
"Our partnership enables us to play an active role in encouraging healthy lifestyles with children in each of our stores' communities. It is a real honour to be involved and provide the funding to keep this important event alive and give something back. We hope everyone who attended really enjoyed themselves and we look forward to doing it all again next year."
