December is here and Christmas Jumper Day 2016 is in Sunderland. Staff from Specsavers located on Athenaeum Street donned their festive knits in exchange for a donation to their chosen charity the Alzheimer’s Society.

Incredible work

Specsavers Sunderland store director, Dean Baldassarra, said: ‘Nothing says Christmas more than a fun and festive jumper. What better way to support the incredible work the Alzheimer’s Society does in leading the fight against dementia, and especially over Christmas when people with dementia often report feeling more isolated.

Christmas can be a frustrating time for people affected by Alzheimer’s; bright lights, crowded shops and a change in routine all add to the confusion. We hope that by showing off our festive pullover power we can raise both awareness and money for the Alzheimer’s Association and make Christmas more cheerful for those affected by dementia.’
