Surprises for all as Specsavers in Altrincham celebrates 20th birthday
Specsavers in Altrincham is busily preparing for its 20th birthday, and has a whole host of prizes to give away to those that pop into store to celebrate with them.
The birthday fun day will take place on Saturday 19 July 2014 and visitors to the store, based in George Street, can enter to win one of a number of top prizes, with all money raised going the store’s charity partner, Whythenshawe Hospital. Staff will spend Friday night before the event baking cakes for the big birthday bake sale, another part of the celebrations, which will also help to raise even more cash for charity.
As an extra promotion in the lead up to the event, anyone who buys a pair of glasses from the store will be automatically entered into a draw to win their specs for free and the winner will be announced on the fun day.
Fundraising for new charity partner
Staff at Specsavers in Altrincham have already been doing their bit for Whythenshaw Hospital this year. Staff at the store have spent the first part of this year knitting blankets and shawls, all needed for newborn babies at its neo-natal unit.
Jan Owen, assistant fundraising and donations manager from Wythenshawe Hospital says: ‘As soon as Specsavers in Altrincham told us they would like to be a charity partner, they quickly put their creative skills to use, knitting number of blankets and shawls for us.
The quality of the blankets was outstanding and we were touched by the time and effort they put into doing this. ‘The fun day is a fantastic idea and will not only raise cash for the hospital, it will also bring the community together too, which is what Specsavers does really well.’
Prizes that can be won on the day include tickets to the Lyceum Theatre in Crewe, Amazon vouchers, tickets to the dog races and one lucky person could win a dress worn by Corrie actress Patti Clare (Mary Taylor), provided by Granada Studios.
Birthday treats for all kids
And Specsavers in Altrincham wants to make sure no child leaves the store without a prize on its birthday. Kids can pay £1 for a pot of treasure, a lucky dip where every child leaves with a prize, tickets to theme park Gulliver’s World are included in the kids prize selection.
Stephen Kirkham, director at Specsavers in Altrincham says: ‘It’s been a great 20 years at the store, and each year that passes by makes me feel more and more proud of the dedicated staff working here.
‘The charity events are where the staff really shine – everyone gets involved and we always get a big turnout from the local community too. We’ve got prizes for everyone this year too. I have to admit, I’m really looking forward to it! The fun day starts from 9am and goes through till 5.30pm.
