Rosie receives cheque from Specsavers in Alton

Brave Rosie Broomfield-Young is doing a Sky Dive on 21st May and keen to support her cause is the team at Specsavers in Alton.

Jumping for Gift of Sight

Rosie has her own personal reasons for supporting this great cause.  When she was only 20 years old, she fell ill and lost part of her sight. Today, she lives with a rare disease called acute macular neuroretinopathy for which there is no cure, no treatment.

Understanding what sight loss means

Rosie hasn't let her condition stop her from achieving amazing things.  From graduating with an English degree, to travelling the world, her confidence remains strong and sight loss does not hold her back.  That said, she completely understands how sight loss can be very debilitating and hold people back from fulfilling their potential.

Without the support of her friends and family when times got hard, she too admits life could feel very different.

Suppporting a cause close to her heart

Rosie knows first hand how important Gift for Sight's work is.  Located at Southampton University Hospital where she gets her check ups, she admires the incredible work that they do.

Her Grandpa has recently been diagnosed with glaucoma, too, so supporting a charity who are committed to eye health was a natural choice.

Go, Rosie!

Specsavers in Alton is inspired by Rosie's pledge and have been fundraising at the store to support her cause.  To date, colleagues and customers have helped the team raise £270 and they welcomed Rosie to the store recently to be presented with her cheque.
