Staff at Specsavers in Alloa raised an impressive £684 during a series of Red Nose Day fundraisers.

Staff at the opticians asked customers to dig deep in support of Comic Relief during the fundraisers which included a children’s fun day, bake sale, and a ‘funny face’ day in which staff made their faces funny for money by wearing face paint, make-up and wigs.

Fundraising highlight
The highlight of the store’s fundraising activities was a sponsored leg wax which raised £173. Brave staff member, Kieran Gounden had his legs waxed to above the knee and even allowed customers and staff to bid for the opportunity to pull off the first strip.

The store also stocked Specsavers’ Red Nose Day glasses in small and large sizes, costing £3 with £1 being donated direct to Comic Relief.

Lynne Sangster, retail director of Specsavers in Alloa, said: ‘We’re very proud of Kieran – he did really well to grin and bear the pain! We’d like to thank all our customers for their support and encouragement.

All our staff have had lots of fun making their faces funny for money this Red Nose Day  and everyone’s so pleased that we were able to contribute a great amount to the Specsavers’ total.’
