Alloa man is finalist for Spectacle Wearer of the Year
Greig Paterson is set to fly the flag for Alloa at a star-studded awards ceremony that champions looking and feeling great in your specs.
Top of his age category
The 39-year-old has come top of the 35-44 age category in the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition and will be attending the glitzy awards ceremony in London.
Greig is one of just six category winners in the UK, and the only Scot to qualify for the grand final.
All of them, including an Irish finalist, are now in the running to be crowned overall winner of the competition, organised by Specavers – the announcement takes place at the ceremony on 10 October with the winner scooping a £10,000 cash prize.
Greig said: ‘I couldn’t believe I was selected as a regional finalist and never imagined I’d become a category winner.
‘I’m looking forward to my trip to London and I’m very excited to attend the awards ceremony alongside a host of famous faces to represent the town and Scotland.’
Lynne Sangster, store director at Specavers in Alloa, added: ‘We are absolutely delighted the only Scottish winner comes from our fantastic town.
‘Greig looks great in his specs and we think he would make an excellent overall winner. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for him.’
This year’s competition was launched by former Girls Aloud sensation, Nadine Coyle, who will be attending the ceremony.
Now in its 22nd year, the competition raises valuable funds for anti-bullying charity Kidscape, which has totalled £400,000 to date.
The competition has five age categories – 16-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-59 and over 60s plus a Facebook favourite voted for by the public.
