Allerton team looks to the future
The Allerton Specsavers team has made a major £450,000 investment into Liverpool's healthcare provision with the grand opening of its new store, recruiting two new staff and installation of state-of-the-art technology.
After almost ten years serving the local community on Smithdown Place, Specsavers has officially open its new bigger and more prominent premises at 160 Allerton Road.
Bigger and better
Specsavers has made the investment following growth of the business which required expansion into larger premises in order to strengthen its offering to customers from across Allerton and South Liverpool. Two new staff have been recruited, with plans to grow the team further.
The Allerton Road store is the first Specsavers in Liverpool and Merseyside to launch an innovative new shopping experience. Instead of traditional reception desks, the store has mobile, standing and seated service points. Customers are greeted and registered on tablet devices, which are also used to measure and dispense their glasses. The concept, which is being rolled out across all Specsavers stores, is the first of its kind in optics.
Unique customer experience
The innovative Digital Precision Eyecare system also provides new way of selecting and fitting customers’ glasses, using imaging software on tablet devices.
Following an eye examination, the optical team assists customers in selecting their preferred glasses. Imaging software on a tablet is then used to take an image of them wearing the glasses, which in turn captures a range of essential dispensing measurements. These are unique to the customer and their chosen glasses.
In addition, using the in-store tablet devices, customers can now browse all new frames (such as the exclusive Converse range and Disney frames) as well as the latest trends from celebrity stylists on Specsavers’ own fashion app as well as local and national news.
The store will boast a new specialist contact lens centre, more optical testing rooms with state-of-the-art computerised testing equipment plus a dedicated hearing centre.
The new contact lens suite has been specially designed to be ready for contact lens testing, fitting and aftercare, allowing staff from Allerton Specsavers to support the area’s growing number of contact lens wearers even more efficiently.
Andrew Preston, store director at Specsavers Allerton, said: ‘We’re incredibly excited about opening the doors to our new store on Thursday 20 August and can’t wait to see the reaction of our loyal customers to the new technology on offer.
Our investment into the new store represents our commitment to improving vital healthcare provision in Allerton and across South Liverpool and came as we celebrated our 10th birthday in September.
Even though we’ve not moved far, the larger store means our customers have access to the latest equipment and resources. We’re also delighted that the expansion has led to growing our workforce by two new members and our plan is to grow the team further.’
