The team at Specsavers Tewkesbury is getting behind the UK’s only charity that supports children with Crohn’s and colitis.
CICRA, whose aim is to ensure childhood isn’t limited by inflammatory bowel disease, has been chosen as the charity which the store will be supporting for the first half of the year. Optical assistant, Helen Lambert, was diagnosed with Crohn’s when she was a child and her family benefitted from the help and support provided by CICRA.
A good cause
‘I’m really pleased that the rest of the team were happy to pick CICRA as it’s obviously a cause that I feel very strongly about,’ said Helen. ‘Being diagnosed as a child is really tough, with lots to take on board, so we were extremely grateful to have the charity on hand to help and answer any questions we had. There’s still lots to be done to raise awareness as well as helping to fund research so hopefully, we can help on both counts over the next few months.’
The team will be planning a range of in-store activities to help with their fundraising efforts and hope that the local community shows its support.
CICRA’s mission is to lead research into better treatments, to support children and families with relevant information and advice, to work with health professionals to improve care and to give children a voice to increase public understanding of Crohn's and colitis.
