Rugby referees in Bristol are set to benefit from a partnership with Specsavers, helping to ensure their eyesight is in tip top condition.
One of nine stores part of the sponsorship, Specsavers in Clifton has teamed up with the Bristol Referees’ Society in a one year deal which will provide eyecare and branded kit as well as supporting their training and development programme.

The partnership is aimed at making sure rugby referees that officiate throughout the region are given corrective eyewear if required so supporters can be safe in the knowledge that they definitely have gone to Specsavers. An investment will also be made to ensure Bristol Refs offers the very best training, ultimately benefitting the clubs, schools and universities that they work with.
‘This is a fantastic opportunity for Bristol Referees’ Society,’ said chairman Andy Miller. ‘To have such an established and well known eyecare provider on board is just fantastic and I’ve no doubt that all our referees will benefit. The investment in our training and development programme will also be significant, ensuring that our partners are given the very best qualified referees.’

Making sure they have regular sight tests and are provided with specs or contact lenses if needed will be invaluable.’
Specsavers is dedicated to sport
This partnership reinforces Specsavers’ ongoing commitment to a wide variety of sports sponsorships. This includes sponsorship of the rugby referees in the Super League and the Scottish Football Association match officials, which in a partnership spanning nearly 11 years has helped in the training of 2,500 match officials. Additionally, Specsavers sponsors the Guiness PRO12 rugby league and the Irish Ladies GAA in the Republic of Ireland.
