Albany Road opticians call for Christmas gifts
Specsavers on Albany Road, Cardiff is helping to ensure that disadvantaged children receive Christmas gifts this year by collecting shoeboxes of gifts for the Operation Christmas Child appeal.
Spread goodwill during festive season
Operation Christmas Child, which is run by the charity Samaritan’s Purse, aims to spread goodwill during the festive season to underprivileged children around the world.
It provides gifts to vulnerable children in more than 130 countries across Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
The store is calling for donations to the appeal from customers and members of the community in the run up to Christmas.
Frank Moloney, director of Specsavers in Cardiff, said: ‘For many of us, Christmas is a time to share gifts with our loved ones and it is often too easy to take this special time of year for granted. That’s why we are pleased to show our support to this humbling campaign for the fifth year.
‘We were delighted to have collected almost 400 boxes last year, so we’re aiming to match that donation again and are calling on those, who are able to spare a few pounds, to help us put just as many smiles on young faces this Christmas.’
When donating a shoebox you must clearly mark if you are giving gifts to a boy or girl as well as the age category you are donating to; two to four-years-old, five to nine or 10 to 14. Boxes can be filled with toys, school supplies or items such as toothpaste, soap and hairbrushes.
Donate by Tuesday 18 November
A donation of £3.00 for each box should also be made for the associated delivery costs that the charity is charged.
The closing date for all boxes and donations is Tuesday 18 November.
