Albany road assistant set to become dispensing optician
A member of staff at Specsavers Albany Road is set to begin a training course that will see him qualify as a dispensing optician.
35-year-old Favio Becker started working for Specsavers in February 2012 as an optical assistant after having previous retail experience in shops and supermarkets.
By working for Specsavers, he has discovered his interest in optics and has had the opportunity to learn more about the industry. As a result he is now going to further his career by training to become a dispensing optician.
Favio said: ‘I’m delighted that I’ve been given the chance to take on this training course and improve my skills, and at the same time I’m able to do this while working at the store. My experience in customer service was a great starting point for me when I joined Specsavers, and I feel that these skills will only be developed further during my training course.
‘The course will be a huge stepping stone for me and I look forward to what the future holds.’
Dan Palfrey, store manager at Specsavers on Albany Road, said: ‘Specsavers is committed to improving the career prospects of its staff by providing them with the skills to grow.
‘Dispensing opticians work closely with optometrists and help fit customers with the best glasses for their needs. With Favio’s extensive retail experience, I’m certain that he’ll maintain the high standards of customer care that Specsavers prides itself on.
‘We wish him the best of luck for his training.’
