The Accrington Specsavers team invited local youngsters to help celebrate the town's ‘Super Hero’ dads with a special family competition.

To win the top prize, youngsters (aged 16 and under) drew a picture explain why their dad is the best in Accrington. The winner was local resident Connor Swift.

Tough competition

The most colourful and heartfelt entry was put on display as part of a special competition wall in store. The competition is part of Specsavers support for the annual Men’s Health Week which gave health care providers, public policy makers, the media, and individuals an opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury.

Raising awareness

Research has revealed that men are less likely to lead a healthy lifestyle than women so this Men’s Health Week, Specsavers encouraged men of all ages to overcome any apprehensions they might have and come in to store to get their vision and hearing tested.

Suzanne George, store director at Accrington Specsavers, said: ‘We were delighted to put Accrington’s ‘Super Hero’ dads in the frame! Men’s Health Week was also a great opportunity to encourage men to take stock of their own wellbeing.'
