All eyes on optical fundraiser
Visitors to Abingdon's Specsavers were greeted by staff dressed as princesses and superheroes on Saturday 2 August as part of a fundraising day.
The store was raising money for Leah’s Legacy after pledging to support the Cystic Fibrosis charity throughout 2014. The charity was set up in memory of Leah Dionne Graham who sadly passed away from Cystic Fibrosis at just 17.
As well as dressing up, a number of activities took place outside the store including face painting, a cake sale and a tombola. Staff also carried out specs MOTs (cleaning and adjustments) in return for donations with all money going to the charity.
‘We’ve already raised £850, held a design a T-shirt competition and donated two Kindles to the ward at Oxford Children’s Hospital where Leah spent a lot of time,’ said store director, Atul Vagdama. ‘The whole team has done a fantastic job in not only raising money but awareness.’
Leah’s Legacy works to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and the importance of organ donation. It also organises fundraising events to raise money for Leah’s chosen charities.
