A long time ago, in an opticians far, far away
It’s not every day that Imperial Storm Troopers and Darth Vader pop in for an eye test, but earlier this year, Specsavers in Market Harborough was treated to a visit from some of Star Wars’ most notable characters.
Members of staff organised the themed day to raise essential funds for local charity, Voluntary Action South Leicestershire (VASL).
Going all out for a good cause
Store director Barry Henning commented: ‘We’re all big Star Wars fans here at Market Harborough and we love to go all out for a good cause, so the day was a great success! VASL is a local charity and very close to our hearts, so we were delighted to have the opportunity to raise much needed funds.’
Among the family fun was an opportunity for younger visitors to experience the Specsavers Jedi Training Academy, and a chance for a lucky winner to get their hands on a Star Wars prize hamper filled with themed goodies, DVDs and even a remote controlled BB-8 droid from the latest instalment of the franchise.
VASL is a charity that aims to improve neighbourhoods and the lives of people in the South Leicestershire area through volunteer work. The charity provides support for young carers in the community and offers services for isolated elderly residents.
Barry added ‘We’d like to thank everyone who came along to help us raise money on the day, and May the Force be with you!’
