Ripley's new Specsavers store

05 August, 2014

The UK’s most trusted optician* opened its doors to glasses and contact lens wearers in Ripley on Monday (4 August).

The new Specsavers store at 22 Oxford Street, Ripley, has created eight jobs for local people.

The opticians is run by three store directors, who have more than 50 years’ optical experience between them.

  • Kuldip Dosanjh
  • Andy McBride
  • Raj Gohil

The three directors are all familiar faces to Specsavers as both Andy and Raj are also directors at Belper, while Kuldip has worked as an optometrist at the Derby store for the last eight years.

The former card factory boasts two test rooms and a dedicated hearing centre – all on the ground floor for easy customer access.

It’s fully kitted out with all the latest equipment including a high-tech digital retinal camera that helps with the early detection of conditions like glaucoma, or even brain tumours by taking a picture of the back of the eye.

Kuldip said: ‘My two co-directors and I are delighted to have opened the new store in Ripley and are very much looking forward to welcoming customers through the doors.

Our aim is that customers see us as the equivalent to their friendly local GP and can be sure of the best possible standards of eyecare and customer service.

We offer the very latest in eye testing equipment and our digital retinal photography, that takes a picture of the back of your eye, will be included for free as part of the standard sight test.

The images can be viewed on the in-store iPads to give a more interactive service while customers can also take advantage of a free sight test offer.’

Opening hours are:

  • 8.30am until 5.30pm Monday–Friday
  • 9am- 5pm on Saturdays
  • 10am-4pm on Sundays
