Eight Northern Ireland residents are in the running for the national Spectacle Wearer of the Year award
Eight of Northern Ireland’s proudest glasses wearers, are now one a step closer to winning the coveted Spectacle Wearer of the Year Award, with a grand prize of £10,000 and a luxury holiday in the Bahamas.
The eight regional finalists were chosen from hundreds of entries from across Northern Ireland. Known as the Oscars of the glasses world, the awards celebrate specs wearers from the UK and Republic of Ireland, across four age categories: 15-24; 25-39; 40-59 and 60+.
The awards were launched by Girls Aloud singer and West End star Kimberley Walsh earlier this year, who any of our regional finalists could meet at the awards ceremony if they triumph in their age category.
The awards will be held at London’s 8 Northumberland Avenue on Tuesday 7 October. All age category winners will win a VIP makeover, with one overall winner taking home the ultimate accolade in specs wearing.
Tony McGinn, regional chairman, Specsavers Northern Ireland, says: ‘I would like to wish all eight of Northern Ireland’s regional finalists all the very best for the final round of judging. It is such a great achievement to have reached the final eight within Northern Ireland and to have been chosen from hundreds of entries across the province.
‘I have seen each of the finalists in their specs, and they all look really fantastic! I do not envy any of the judges and the tough choices they will now have to make when it comes to choosing their four finalists.’
