Optician slam dunks sponsorship agreement
County Upper School Basketball Academy has struck up a 12 month sponsorship deal with Specsavers Bury St Edmunds to mark the start of their new season.
Specsavers have helped kit out the players with new kits and contributing towards expenses such as court hire and transport to away games.
Marc Mitchell, store director at Specsavers, said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to be sponsoring the local basketball team and will use the partnership to educate players about the importance of eye health. Throughout the season, we will be inviting players into store to have their eyes tested.’
County Upper School Basketball Academy caters for students between the ages of 16-19 who demonstrate high levels of skill playing the sport.
The Academy works alongside local and National League clubs to enable students to play competitively in school and club competition.
Club coach, Darren Johnson, said: ‘The sponsorship from Specsavers means a lot to our club. Running the team requires a huge personal effort from each member, in and outside the courts; training sessions, organising travel, running the league, refereeing - everybody does their best. Without the support and encouragement of our sponsors representing our team, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do best.’
