It was a race against the clock for three staff at the Barnstaple store to raise funds to run this year’s North Devon Marathon, in aid of the North Devon Hospice.
Specsavers store director, Jonathan Lloyd and his two fellow colleagues, Pete Sibley and Steph Davey, juggled their rigorous training regimes with fundraising for the charity. They had the full support of their colleagues who helped to collect as much as possible up until the event on the Sunday 29 June.
Jonathan Lloyd says: ‘We are all avid runners and we have always wanted to participate in the North Devon Marathon. This year we are celebrating the store’s 25th anniversary along with the hospice celebrating their 30th anniversary, so it seemed like the perfect charity to support. They offer vital support in the local community and we were proud to support them.’
Pete Sibley adds: ‘Other than being exhausted by the training, we were very excited to participate in such a prestigious race. I hope we did the charity and the store proud!’
The North Devon Hospice is a local charity providing specialist care and support to those with a life-threatening illness and to their loved ones, completely free of charge.
