Summer is a difficult one for fashion. I always find the warmer months to be the trickiest out of them all for styling my outfits, especially as a glasses wearer. But never fear! I’ve been in the studio styling up some versatile glasses friendly looks for summer and I’m about to share with you my top five tips to rock your frames alongside those tropical summer vibes!
Down to a tee
Never underestimate the power of a simple printed t-shirt. Paired with your favourite pair of shorts (or jeans if the British summer doesn’t deliver!) it can be an easy way to style up your look for the warmer months.Think cute pastel colours to show off your tan and express yourself with slogans! And the best part about this simple, summer number is that it goes with almost any frames.
I’ve paired this adorable pink tee (brunch = life, am I right?!) with a pair of super trendy rose gold frames and some high waisted shorts. This cut is really flattering for wider hips and by tucking that T-shirt in you get a really great shape! I love these frames because they not only help me see but they’re also bang on-trend right now.HURSTON
I love, love, LOVE bright colours for summer. Fiery oranges, vivid greens, bright blues, yellows, the lot! And while we can wear colour all year round what better season to embrace it all than summer?
Don’t forget you’ll need your sunglasses with you, and with a bright outfit I always love to keep it simple with my shades, like this light brown pair. The simple frames seamlessly complement the outfit without overpowering and let the colour do all the talking! They’ll also go with everything too, a real sunglasses staple.ANNIPE SUN RX
Colour coding your accessories
I love wearing glasses - a great tip for styling frames is to pick out a colour from the outfit you’re wearing and match your accessories - even your glasses - to that colour. And with the 2for1 deal at Specsavers you can choose two different frames to match the standout colours in your wardrobe without breaking the bank!
Here I’ve picked out the yellow tones in this muted tropical pattern and made it pop with a mustard clutch bag, finished with tortoiseshell frames to tie the outfit together. Think statement earrings, maybe a belt, detailing on a shoe - find your outfits ‘hero colour’ and match your frames to that.
A lot of summer prints are vibrant, loud and busy which can be a tricky one to get right as a glasses wearer. Some frames can be heavy and make your outfit look a little cluttered or clash with a bold print. So why not go clear?
Clear frames are so on-trend right now and they also go with everything! I’ve teamed mine with this adorable spotty playsuit to enable me to wear print AND my glasses together. The sides of these frames are black too which matches perfectly with my belt.CINDY
Make a statement
A great way to jazz up a simple outfit is with a pair of statement frames like these round sunglasses by Roxy! They ooze retro style and really style up this simple shirt and trouser combo. If you feel like your summer outfit is a little on the simple side then go wild with your most out-there sunnies.
