Unapologetically alluring pop group The Pussycat Dolls took ‘girl power’ to a whole new level in the noughties. After notching up a series of mega-hits, including Don’t Cha and Jai Ho! (Slumdog Millionaire), the six-piece group eventually split in 2009, with each doll going on to launch successful solo careers – including the gorgeous, fun-loving Kimberly Wyatt.
Almost immediately, Kimberly moved to the UK (where she still lives with her model husband Max Rogers and their little girl Willow) to be a judge on Sky’s talent show Got to Dance. And then, in 2015, the multi-talented mum chopped, whisked and baked her way to win the BBC’s Celebrity MasterChef series.

Kimberly had the whole team captivated when we met her for a fabulous photoshoot to promote Specsavers’ annual charity competition Spectacle Wearer of the Year, which is held to raise money for anti-bullying charity Kidscape. We took the opportunity to ask Kimberly a few questions about her specs style...
How long have you worn glasses?
Goodness, since I was a teenager. I've always love to read, but reading lots of books was giving me massive headaches, so finally I went to have my eyes checked and, lo and behold, I needed reading glasses. I have had reading glasses for well over ten years now.
What is your usual specs style?
I love trying different styles. My favourite glasses style is a cat’s eye, which suits my face shape and eyes. It’s nice that you can experiment with your look – I feel so fashionable in glasses.

Whose specs style do you admire?
There are so many people I admire. I am quite a fan of old Hollywood and I love Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot’s look.
How do they fit in with your lifestyle?
I mostly wear my glasses when I am working. I write a lot of blogs, and I’m also working on a book, so when I’m in my office I usually have my glasses on. I love it because my little girl Willow’s favourite thing is to toddle over to my desk, reach up and say, ‘Up, up, up’, until I pick her up; she then opens the little drawer on my desk, finds my reading glasses and gives them to me and says, ‘Mum put them on’. She cracks up when I do – it’s quite sweet.

I would spend all day filming MasterChef, then come home to be with Willow and just forget about it all until she went to bed.

How did you manage taking part (and winning) Celebrity MasterChef while balancing life with a baby?
Without any sleep! I would spend all day filming, then come home at 5pm to be with Willow and just forget about it all until she went to bed. Then I would be in the kitchen looking at different recipes, finding my next big meal and working on the next challenge through the night.
How did you break into showbiz?
Through dancing. I would go straight to dance class after school and be there until nine or ten at night, so it didn’t leave a lot of time for much else.

You DJ’d at Spectacle Wearer of the Year in 2014, what are you most looking forward to at this year’s event?
I always love meeting new people and I’m especially looking forward to meeting the 2016 winners – just coming together to celebrate and be proud of the fact that you are a specs wearer is really nice. It’s a really fun event.
This competition is in aid of anti-bullying charity Kidscape. How important is the charity element for you?
Bullying is something that so many kids have to face and the fact that we are raising awareness and making wearing glasses cool is a really important thing. Since becoming a mum myself, I see how important it is to help our kids feel good about themselves. To help others in need is kind of the purpose of life, really. It’s what gets me out of bed.
