To launch this year's Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition we went behind the scenes with Claire Richards to find out why she loves wearing glasses and how they've become part of her everyday style.
'I think the Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards are a great thing for people who wear glasses. I've always wanted to wear glasses, even when I was a kid. These awards are a real focus on the positive side of wearing specs and a celebration!'CARPATHIA
'Most of my glasses are kind of the same style. They're a fashion thing for me, it's just something that I like to wear as it makes me feel comfortable. I don't know how many pairs I own!'CINDY
'Spectacle Wearer of the Year is a great confidence booster for people that lack confidence in wanting or needing to wear glasses. I love retro style glasses so if I wear them going out I'll try and match my make up for my look.'HAZEL
'I've met so many people who are shy or uncomfortable about having to wear glasses. I love to wear my glasses all the time.'BLACKBERRY
'One of the things I'm looking forward to at this year's awards is hearing some of the finalist's stories. It's so interesting to hear everybody's different reasons for entering or wanting to be recognised for wearing glasses. I think it's brilliant.'KYLIE MINOGUE 05
