City style in Amsterdam

Amy Spencer, aka The Little Magpie, is a fashion blogger from Scotland.

After a recent trip to Amsterdam, Amy shares her top tips on what to see, but most importantly, on what to wear.

Weekend city breaks are a perfect opportunity for a slice of escapism, to see another city and explore a different culture.

Amsterdam style tends to be laid back and very, very cool meaning nailing the perfect capsule wardrobe is key.

'One of the best things about Amsterdam for me, is the cafe culture. Walking around the city you'll find canals lined with people having a drink as they watch the world go by.'
'Good footwear is key as you'll be doing a lot of walking, so make sure to bring something comfortable as well as stylish! A t-shirt tucked into high waisted trousers with a checked jacket pairs well with thick-framed black glasses.'

'Think minimal, layered looks featuring trainers or boots and a smart coat. To complete the look, add some round tortoiseshell glasses for ultimate cool.'

'If the sun is shining, then a midi dress and denim jacket finished off with some cat-eye sunglasses makes a great city look.'

'Eveningwear is still very casual in the Dutch capital , so make sure your outfits take you from day to night. We all know that dual outfits means more room in your case for souvenirs on the way back!'
