Would spectacle hearing aids work for someone with arthritic hands?

My 92 year old mother has a hearing aids but her severely arthritic fingers means she cannot manipulate them in to place.I am wondering whether the problem might be best addressed with spectacle hearing aids. I am not aware of the nature of her hearing loss (ie if she has conductive hearing loss). Should we explore this option further?

Answer:

As you may have seen from previous questions regarding spectacle hearing aids, they are usually only effective for individuals with severe conductive losses. That said, if your mother is really struggling with insertion of her aids to the point that she is unable to wear them, it may well be worth exploring spectacle aids with her local audiologist as they would definitely be better than no hearing aids at all (obviously dependent on her hearing loss).
