Will a second hearing aid help me hear better?

I currently have a NHS hearing aid for my left ear which I believe has an approximate hearing loss of 20-30%. I have not been supplied with an aid for my right ear which has I believe has a 70-80% hearing loss as they said there would not be any noticeable improvement. Whilst the one hearing aid helps I still have real problems hearing at times and wondered if there is a solution from the private sector, or is the current position one I have to accept?

Answer:

Whilst it is difficult to say whether a second hearing aid would help in your specific circumstances, in general terms most hearing impaired people with a loss in both ears do benefit from wearing a hearing aid in each ear. Book an appointment at your local Specsavers Hearing Centre to discuss with the audiologist the options available to you.
