Should my hearing aids come out?

I have just acquired national health hearing aids. I have a problem with them keep coming out, so I have to keep pushing them back in. When I feel them coming out I feel I will lose one of them. Is this normal when you first have them?

Answer:

Whilst some people do find it a little tricky to insert their hearing aids for the first few times, once they are in place they should not work themselves loose. You do not state whether they are 'open fit' hearing aids with slim tubes and domes or more traditional earmoulds. If they are open fit, ask your audiologist to add a retaining lock to them which is a small and simple piece of plastic which acts like a spring against the bowl (concha) of the ear to keep them in place.
