Should I have my hearing checked regularly?

I am 24 and just wondered if hearing tests are something we should be having regularly? I have not had one since infant school. I don't seem to have problems hearing, other than sometimes if people are talking in groups but only if it's quite a noisy atmosphere. Do you think I need to be tested?

Answer:

If you are not experiencing any difficulties with your hearing there is no need to be tested on a regular basis. Even people with very good hearing will have some difficulties in group and noisy situations so that in itself is nothing to be worried about. Hearing declines very, very slowly with age and most people don't start to notice the symptoms until well into their 60s and 70s. However, if you have concerns about your hearing before then, it's always best to visit your GP in the first instance.
