Should a cold leave me with hearing difficulties?

I had a cold three weeks ago, and have been left with bad catarrh, which is affecting my hearing from too loud, to too quiet, have tried natural remedies and tablets, but still have the problem. I am a 54 year old female. Do you think it would be wise to get my hearing checked?

Answer:

Whilst it is very common for slight hearing loss to be a symptom of a heavy cold, if your hearing does not return to normal after a couple of weeks, it is advisable to have your hearing tested. After a comprehensive hearing assessment, your audiologist will be able to advise on the possible causes and subsequent treatment for your difficulties.
