NHS hearing services at Specsavers in Norfolk

I work for NHS Norfolk and Waveney and have been asked if Specsavers have rolled the hearing service out for residents in Norfolk and if so from which branches?Thank you in advance for your assistanceSusan Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)
Answer:

Hi SusanTank you for your question. The roll out of NHS hearing services on the high street through the Any Qualified Provider (AQP) programme began in July 2012 and will continue over the next 18 months.Recent changes in government rules mean a revolution is taking place in the provision of free NHS services. Before, to get a hearing test and/or a free NHS digital hearing aid you had to go to a hospital. But now, local NHS Primary Care Trusts in England can accredit high street audiologists, such as Specsavers Hearing Centres, to provide them instead. This also includes your hearing test, hearing aid fitting and aftercare, free.To see if you live in an area where you can get free NHS hearing aids at Specsavers, go to the Specsavers Hearcare website www.specsavers.co.uk/hearing and type in your postcode. If they are available in your area, contact your GP in the first instance. In the Norfolk area, it is anticipated that? this service will go live in mid-April 2013.
