How do NHS hearing aids compare to private?

Are the hearing aids supplied by the NHS similar to the ones supplied to the paying public, or are they similar in style to the old ones supplied at an NHS hospital?

Answer:

The hearing aids fitted by the NHS have improved considerably over the last few years. They are smaller and neater than ever before and the technology level is equivalent to a mid-priced private product in the private portfolio. The one key difference between NHS and private provision is choice. There are a great number of hearing aids to choose from when purchasing privately but a very limited choice available on the NHS.
