How can I manage my wax?

I currently have a behind-the-ear hearing aid which appears to cease being effective very quickly as I get an abnormal amount of wax constantly building up. If I changed to an in-the-ear aid would that be just the same?

Answer:

Wax can cause problems for hearing aids, particularly for those people who seem to generate excessive amounts. The type of hearing aid does not make any difference to the difficulties experienced with wax. For those who do generate excessive amounts, talk to your local pharmacist about how to best manage it and clean your hearing aids every day to keep them in best working order.
