Department for Work and Pensions awards eyecare contract to Specsavers Corporate Eyecare

Specsavers Corporate Eyecare, a division of Specsavers Optical Superstores Limited, has entered into a contract with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to supply eyecare vouchers to employees of the DWP who use display screen equipment. Those employees will be able to use the vouchers to obtain eyecare services from Specsavers stores throughout the UK.

The Department for Work and Pensions is responsible for welfare and pension policy and is a key player in tackling child poverty. It is the biggest public service delivery department in the UK and serves more than 20 million customers. The contract will cover 101,000 DWP employees.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) states that anyone who works with a VDU is entitled to employer-funded eyetests and glasses if required for VDU use.

Alix Dickinson, corporate account manager for Specsavers Corporate Eyecare said: ‘We’re really pleased to be selected by the DWP to supply eyecare to its employees. We work hard to ensure that our service works for organisations as well as their employees, and we’re looking forward to welcoming DWP staff in our stores.’
