Abergavenny RFC kicks-off with new sponsor
Abergavenny RFC is kicking-off the 2013-14 rugby season with a brand new kit sponsor.
Specsavers is supplying the Abergavenny first team with the new kit in a sponsorship deal worth £2,000.
The team is currently playing in Division 3 East, and wore their kit for the first time when they took on Risca RFC at on Saturday 5 October, which, after a hard fought match, ended in a 25 – 14 win for Risca.
Andrew Sutton, director of the store on Frogmore Street, said: ‘We are delighted to get behind our local rugby team and to give them our full backing for the next season.
Specsavers has a long tradition of supporting rugby here in Wales. We are proud sponsors of the Wales Deaf Rugby Union, the referees of the RaboDirect PRO12 and the match officials of the British and Irish Lions tour this summer that saw players from Wales do so well.
Abergavenny RFC has been going from strength to strength in recent years and we are looking forward to supporting them over the next season.’
Vice Chairman of Abergavenny RFC, Howard Davies, said: ‘I would like to thank Specsavers for all their support – it is fantastic to see such a prestigious company getting behind a local team and supporting sport at a grass roots level.
The team were proud to wear their new kit when they took on Risca RFC at the weekend, although in the end, it was not the result we were hoping for.
We would like to say a big thank you to Specsavers for all their support and look forward to an exciting season.’
