A: Yes, your employer is entitled to nominate any optician.
A: Yes, it is recommended that you make an appointment.
A: You will be able to secure an appointment typically within a week, but often more quickly. As a reminder, we make a courtesy call and/or text you 24 hours before the appointment. We try to attend to all our allocated appointments on time, every time.
A: No, you can visit any UK Specsavers store. There are over 660 to choose from and many are open seven days a week, including late nights. We also regularly visit various Scottish islands.
A: Your employer should conduct a risk assessment. The results should determine the level of protection required, including lenses for safety glasses.
A: No, you are not allowed to upgrade prescription safety glasses, as this would be over-delivering the requirement set out by your organisation. Furthermore, doing so could be potentially hazardous.
A: On receipt of an order and payment by your employer, we dispatch the vouchers the next working day. Your employer will then distribute the vouchers as required.
A: It is your responsibility to ensure vouchers are kept safe. Unfortunately, we cannot issue replacements.
A: You can usually collect your single vision VDU glasses within three working days of your appointment at the Specsavers store.
A: You can usually collect your single vision prescription safety glasses within five working days of your appointment at the Specsavers store. Bifocal or varifocal glasses may take seven to ten working days.
A: Yes, under current DSE legislation your employer is required to fund in full the eye examination and basic frames and lenses when glasses are required solely and specifically for VDU use.
A: The usual re-test cycle is every two years. However there may be occasions where more-regular checks are required. This could be down to your family’s ocular history, i.e. glaucoma, or some other form of ocular disease. Therefore based on clinical judgement, the optometrist will recommend re-test dates as appropriate.
A: Yes, under current legislation you are entitled to request an eye examination at any time if you feel your eyes have been damaged or strained, or if you have suffered headaches, as a consequence of VDU work.
